All of Dragonfly’s CBD is grown on certified organic soil, free from any harmful chemicals and their plants are cared for without the use of any pesticides. Their cannabis sativa plants absorb an astonishing 14,300 tonnes of CO2 a year on their 650 hectare farm and after they have been extracted, their packaging process is almost entirely recyclable before they begin their journey to the consumer.
Not only this but through their biomass initiatives, they ensure any excess crop is made into sustainable fuel and building materials. The company is constantly looking for ways to up the standards in sustainability through working with leading scientists, consumers and universities and are fiercely committed to meeting the United Nations “Climate Neutral Now Pledge”.
How did the Dragonfly brand come together and what is your mission?
H: In 2017 3 friends had a vision of revolutionizing the wellness movement. We saw that there was a surge in cannabis products in North America – but Europe wasn’t talking about these amazing plants. We explored the European landscape and realized there was no one out there creating a seed to shelf CBD product. So that is what we set out to do. Create high quality CBD products, that we could tell our consumers what happened at every stage of their product, at an affordable price.
What is the inspiration of dragonflies behind the brand name?
H: The name originated from the Dragonflies we have in our organic cultivated fields in Bulgaria. When we planted our seeds back in 2017 for the first time, locals told us that their Dragonflies were on the decline however, they love hemp and gravitated towards our cultivation. Now they cover our 420 hectares of land.
Where do you source your ingredients from and what farmers do you work with?
H: All our CBD is grown, extracted and formulated by the dedicated Dragonfly workforce in Bulgaria.
What are some of your favourite products and why?
H: My favorite product is the 500 mg Narrow Spectrum product – this is because it is designed for new users, and I love hearing about those who join their CBD journey because of this great product.
What’s your favourite thing about the industry?
H: The collective movement towards educating society on the wellness properties of cannabis.
How has Covid-19 affected your business and the industry as a whole?
H: It moved us all back to our respective countries meaning we have become more of a remote team - but overall, we saw a new demographic move towards CBD, interestingly millennial men have begun buying a lot more CBD.
As thought leaders in wellbeing, what would be your top tips for people placing more of an importance on themselves during this time?
H: At dragonfly we place a lot of emphasis on the importance of sleep – we have tried to encourage our consumers to ensure that they:
-Have a routine in place, allowing their bodies to regulate this stressful situation through routine
-Have their workplace and their ‘relaxing space’ – otherwise it’s very hard for our minds to switch off in the same environment when we want to wind down and that has a huge impact on sleep
We have created a lot of tips on our website that we have shared as part of our wellness series, we encourage our users to check it out or get in touch if they have any questions.
What do you think lies ahead for the world after Covid-19?
H: A different world, a different workforce and a society placing more focus on their wellbeing one step at a time. Which should always be a priority.
